| WorldGymRank: Mission Statement | |||||||||||
| The Mission Statement of WorldGymRank is quite simple: To provide a comprehensive world ranking system for artistic gymnastics. Many times I have been asked, "What is the point of developing a world ranking system for gymnastics? Isn't that what competitions are for? It seems irrelevant." My goals through WorldGymRank are to recognize gymnasts from all corners of the world who are participating at the elite level of our sport. By providing a world ranking system that follows each gymnast and team through the course of their year, a very complete picture of each athlete and country is painted. I do not wish for WorldGymRank to over-shadow the wonderful results our champions attain annually. It is my hope that WorldGymRank will only enhance the achievements of our gymnasts, and that the two can coincide in a mutual and healthy relationship. Gymnastics is a sport that is always in need of funding. The mainstream media, corporate institutions, and governments are still very slow in supporting gymnastics on a public and financial basis. World rankings are a tool often used by other sports to help the media, corporations, governments, and the general public recognize past, current, and potential success of it's athletes. I encourage all gymnasts, coaches, federations, sports and Olympic committees to view WorldGymRank as an excellent source to help promote and verify high performance excellence in your particular country. This not only may secure a better financial future for your program, it may also increase the general public's awareness of our great sport. |
